TRANSPORT BOARD REPORT

RUGBY, November 5.

The London Passenger Transport Board, which' is the direct owner and operator of London's tube railways, omnibuses, and tramways and is identified with' the suburban traffic of four main railway groups by pooling arrangements, reports that in the year ended June 30 the number of passengers dealt with within this comprehensive pooling scheme totalling 4,129,000,000, .representing travel at the rate of 435 journeys per annum per head of the population served, which, is estimated at 9,500,000 persons.

In the previous year the number of journeys per head was 417. Of 3,582,000.000 persons carried on the Transport Board's own system, 59 per cent, travelled by omnibus and coach, 28 per cent, on tramcars, 12 per cent, on railways, and 1 per cent, by trolley bus. Pooled passenger receipts for the year totalled £39,718,000, and the board's own share was £28,823,000.
