IN ANTARCTIC ICE

ELLSWORTH EXPEDITION

AWAITING OPPORTUNITY FOR FLIGHT

MONTREAL, November 4.

A North American Newspaper Association message from aboard the Wyatt Earp states that the Ellsworth expedition's vessel is once more nestled in the familiar Antarctic ice pack, sheltered by Snow Island from the heavy westerly swell in which the vessel had wallowed for three days.

"The northern end of Bransfleld Strait appears to be blocked by ice, the message states. "However, the wind is slackening and the ice is expected to clear soon and leave a free passage eastwards. It is but comparatively early in the Antarctic summer season; and at this latitude there are still four hours of darkness a night, but the sun is rapidly rising higher and as soon as there is continuous daylight we will begin to look for early favourable weather for the start of the transAntarctic flight."
