TROPHY TO CAPT. PERCIVAL

ALGERIA AND BACK IN A DAY

LONDON, November 5.

The Guild of Air Pilots is awarding its Johnston Memorial Trophy for the most meritorious British air feat of 1935 to Captain E. W. Percival for his flight from England to Algeria and back on the same day.

Flying a Gull three-seater monoplane, Captain Percival left Gravesend at 1.30 a.m. on June 17. He reached. Oran at 8.40 a.m., covering over 1300 miles at a speed of 180 miles an-hour. He returned to Croydon at 6.30 p.m. He flew all the way by compass and was only half a mile off his course when he reached his destination.
