WILL REPLY IN HOUSE

MR. HUGHES'S INTENTION

MELBOURNE, November 5.

A special meeting of the Federal Cabinet was held today to consider the position of Mr. W. M. Hughes, Minister of Health, who was not present.

The Prime-Minister (Mr. J.iA. Lyons) stated afterwards that there was no change in the situation, but a communication had been sent to Mr. Hughes, who intended to make his reply to the request for his resignation 'in the House of Representatives at Canberra, probably tomorrow.

Mr. Hughes's resignation has been requested by the Prime Minister because of his views, expressed in a recentlypublished book, on Australia's attitude towards the application of sanctions against Italy.
