FIRST IN TWENTY YEARS

A very pleasing feature of the Thames Trotting Club's Meeting last Saturday was the success of Wee Machine in the colours of ' Mr. G. Plant, of Epsom, who gained his first success as an owner. Mr. Plant has been closely associated with trotting for over twenty years, breeding and .training many horses, but bad luck followed his efforts j and he did not get a horse to the races during practically the whole of the period. Towards the end of last season he leased Wee Machine, and after gaining a few minor places, the I son of Auto Machine broke a run of outs for himself and also for his owner. Wee Machine, who has been racing for several seasons, has won races for four different trainers, namely, E S Groat, G. T. Mitchell, F. J. Smith and W. Willetts. !

To the regular patrons of the Hotel Federal, Christchurch, to the general public, and to his many frienrfs throughout New Zealand, Mr. T. G. Lewis announces that he has again taken control of the Hotel Federal as from November 1, 1935, and whilst thanking all those who in the past have patronised the Hotel, he solicits a continuance of their support, guarantees a cheery welcome to all new patrons, and assures all that the high standard of service and efficiency for which the "Federal" is noted will be maintained and where possible improved upon. Book now for the race week.—Advt.
