United Press Association—By Electric Telegraph—Copyright, j MELBOURNE, November 5. j The weather was fine and there was an enormous attendance for the second day of the Victoria Racing Club's Spring Meeting. Akanree had a comfortable win in the Cup Hurdle Race. Etymology had every chance, but was well beaten. Revision finished well. Fullarton, rider of Akanree, won the race previously on Taciturn. . Chenars won the Railway Highweight Handicap in the last stride. Grand Sport was never dangerous. King's Head made a great effort with his weight of 10.9. Fidelity scored her third success in three starts when she had a runaway win in the Mimosa Stakes. The New Zealander Gay Lot was a promising fourth. The winner is the best juvenile of the season. Marabou was tenth early in the Cup, but took charge at the two furlongs post and won brilliantly. Sarcherie made a game effort and was runner-up for the second year in succession. Sylvahdale, with a great effort, just beat the veteran Shadow King. Sporting Blood had every chance, and Peter Pan was never in the picture. Marabou is trained by the former New Zealander'Lou Robertson, and was ridden by the former New Zealand jockey K. Voitre. He cost his present owners, Messrs. Fell and Hogan, 3000 guineas, with Royal Messenger included. Sectional times were: First four furlongs 54sec. six lmin 14J,sec, final mile lmin 394 sec, last four 49Jsec. Palfresco was scratched for the Cup at 10 a.m., Satmoth at 11.45 a.m., and High Cross at 12.20 p.m. Narbethong led always in the Van Yean Stakes, and had a comfortable win. Gay Sheik was second early, but knocked up. Cotys and Tapageur finished well. ■ Wirrate had a comfortable win in the Cup Steeplechase. He captured the corresponding event two years ago.. Clear Art, and Marabou. The Litter continued his run, joined the leaders at the entrance to the straight, and drew a\V to win by two lengths and a half. Half a length separated the second and third horses, with Shadow King a head away fourth. Then came Contact,' Feldspar, Sporting Blood, Hot Shot, and Allunga, with Peter Pan sixteenth, and Clear Art last. Time, 3mln 23%5ec..
