HOTEL IMPERIAL,

Rangitikei Street, Palmerston ■North.

The above well-known and popular hotel has recently been considerably improved and added to, making it in comfort and convenience second to none. A fine new office has been provided on the right of the main entrance, and a comfortable lounge occupies the position of the original office. Further improvements on the ground floor include very roomy and wellequipped private and public bars. The entrance to the private bar is where the dining-room was originally,, and with entrances from Rangitikei Street and King Street this portion must be classed excellent, and as for those improvements and additions effected on the second and third floors, no one who knows the "Imperial" can realise without inspection the vast improvement made. The new dining-room, capable of seating over 80 guests, overlooks Cuba and Rangitikei Streets, and is certainly a model of perfection; entrance thereto is from the lounge on the first floor. The culinary departments and servery are convenient and in keeping with the general aspect of a first-class hotel. Hot and cold water has been installed in all bedrooms. Additional bathroom and lavatory accommodation has been provided, electric radiators have been installed in the bedrooms. The outlook from both the old and new portion is all that could be desired, and the rooms themselves are large, lofty, and beautifully furnished. Last of all but not least are the nice private sitting-rooms provided for guests, in addition to the commercial, reading, and smoking-rooms for all. There is a new feature in an up-to-date bottle store near the main entrance. Mr. and" Mrs. Houlihan, who personally supervise all departments, deserve to be complimented on the general excellence of the new arrangements throughout this leading hotel.
