CRUISE SHIPS
FIRST THIS MONTH
FIVE FOR SEASON
The first of five overseas pleasure cruise ships to visit New Zealand this summer—the Strathnaver—is due to arrive at Auckland from Sydney on November 22, and four members of the Tourist Department will leave Auckland on Friday to meet this vessel at Sydney. All five ships will follow the same itinerary, Auckland and Wellington being the only ports of call in New Zealand.
The officer in charge of the Tourist Bureau in Wellington (Mr. R. W. Marshall) will leave for Auckland on Thursday to sail by the Wanganella on Friday, and he will be accompanied to Sydney by Messrs. A. G. Hill (Auckland), C. A. Humphrey (Christchurch), and R. S. Sincock (Dunedin). They will return by the Strathnaver and will arrange inland trips for the passengers, while the vessel is at Auckland and Wellington.
In addition to the overseas cruises the usual coastal trips will be undertaken by trans-Tasman ships. In February a Huddart, Parker ship will carry passengers from Auckland to the Bay of Islands and North Auckland, and during the same month the Wanganella and Monowai will cruise to Milford Sound.
