AUSTRALIAN CAMPAIGNERS

■ Now that many horses who were racing in Australia during the early spring have returned to the Dominion, it may be worth-keeping them in mind for important engagements very soon, as in the past horses have often received great benefit from Sydney campaigns, says ji southern writer. It is of special interest to note that several' New Zealand Cup winners received, their preparation for Riccarton on Sydney courses, the writer continues. Grand, Rapids; Noctuiform, Vice Admiral, Count Cavour, and Oratrix can be rioted as five horses whoso Cup .successes were preceded by campaigns in Sydney. Noctuiform won the A.J.C. Derby, and Grand Rapids and Count Cavour scored minor successes, but Vice Admiral and . Oratrix had to wait till their return home for their winning efforts of the season. However, it cannot be that any of the returning horses will capture the big prizes at Riccarton this year, for none of them are engaged in the Cup, Stewards'. Derby, or Oaks, though Cricket remains in the Welcome Stakes.
