SERIOUS HEAD INJURIES
. (By Telegraphs-Press Association.) , '■; ,;' ;■ DXJNEDIN, Jhls; Day.' : John Garland, aged .49, fell"while attempting to bpard a moving tramcar * yesterday afternoon and suffered head injuries. He was admitted-to hospital and placed on the dangerously ill list.
A letter from, .the .-Post,:.and Telegraph' Department was received at tht meeting of the Petone Borough Council last evening saying that-it was proposed to erect.a telephone box at the corner of William and Manchester Streets. The Mayor (Mr. A. Scholefield) suggested High Street as a better place for the box. The matter was > referred to the works committee. The works committee of the Petone Borough Council Jast evening reported that it had no recommendation to make concerning the; suggestion that permits could be issued lor the femoVal of certain articles from the tip. An amendment that the matter be referred back to the committee was defeated on the casting vote of the Mayor.' ; * . \
