GARDEN COMPETITION.
Entries for the Karori Horticultural bocietys garden competition close tomorrow. The Self-Help silver challenge cup valued at forty guineas, and seven additional cash prizes, all donated by Mr. B. Sutherland, "Homewood," Karon, will again be competed for. lhe competition is open to members of either the Progressive Association or Horticultural Society who do not employ any labour in their gardens and the period is from November 1 to April 20. Competitors will be advised of the approximate dates of judging
Messrs. J. A. Jamieson, J. R. McKenzie, A. J. Barbour, and L. K. Steven (Christchurch), R. S. Hatrick and O. Allen (Wanganui), Jas. Macassey and G. Clarke (Dunedin), J. Armour (Invercargill), H. Eastgate, A. Grayson, and Dr. H. A. Cunningham (Auckland) are staying at the Hotel St. George. Charged with breaking and entering the house of Lucy Adeline Solomon in laranaki Street, on June 24, Edmund Novmnn Connolly, a salesman, aged 24, and John Bethune. St. Clair Malcolm, a labourer, aged 38. appeared before Mr. E. D. Mosley, S.M.. in the Magistrate's Court today. They were remanded to appear on November 6 Connolly was allowed bail in the sum of £100 and one' surety of £100.
