AUSTRALIAN GOLD
RESULT OF STATE AID

MELBOURNE, This Day. During a conference of State representatives which discussed a plan for assisting the mining industry. Senator iA. J. McLachlan, Federal Minister in charge of development, said that ss a result of the financial assistance made available by the Commonwealth, gold won this year in Australia would reach a value of £8,500,000, while additional employment has been given to 5567 men.
He mentioned that there was still a shortage of skilled mining engineers and miners which was retarding the gold-mining industry.
