BIG ROWING REGATTA
FIXED FOR WELLINGTON
The principal fixture on the oarsmen's calendar, the New Zealand championship regatta, will be held in Wellington on Saturday, February 22. The decision to hold the regatta in Wellington was made at the annual meeting of the New Zealand Amateur Rowing Association last night. An application to hold the regatta at Picton was made by the Marlborough Rowing Association, but this met with little support.
The interprovincial championship eights which have been the highlight of rowing in Wellington on several occasions in recent years will be rowed on Easter Saturday (April 11) at Wanganui.
