WEEKEND GAIETIES
GOLFERS ENTERTAINED
THREE DELIGHTFUL PARTIES
Following a very cheery "five o'clock'' party which Mrs. Russell Grace gave in the Midland Hotel lounge on Saturday evening for a large number of golfers taking part in the championship tournament, the executive of the New Zealand Ladies' Golf Union gave a very delightful dinner party in the private dining-room o£ the Midland. The guests of honour were the visiting British team. The president, Mrs. Guy Williams, received the guests wearing a charming frock of black lace.
Three long tables of equal length were arranged in "U" shape, and were most beautifully decorated with lovely pink blooms—stocks, tulips, and sweet peas mixed with mignonette and maidenhair fern—which were massed together in long low boat-shaped bowls. The parchment-shaded lights on the panelled walls cast a pleasing glow on the scene.
Speeches were made during dinner, and Maori songs 'and hakas were performed by the Tahiwis.
Those present were Mrs. Walker, Mrs. Hodson, Mrs. Greenlees, Miss Pam Barton, Miss Phyllis Wade. Miss Jessie Anderson, Mrs. Pobiesoh, Miss E. Duncan, Mrs. Russell Grace, Mrs. T. S. Weston, Mrs. Godby, Mrs. Kelly, Miss Gambrill, Miss Lulu Dyer, Miss Culling, Miss Horwell. Mrs. Iyo Carr, Miss Oliver Kay, Miss W. Barns. Graham, Mrs. Blakely, Mrs. Kerr. Miss M.
