LONDON HIDE MARKET.

Weddel.and Co., London, September [s,.reported that "supplies of New Zeaj.land hides are now short and we have been able to make this week as much as 4 15-16 d for our own Westfield freezer cow hides, 30/401b. We believe, however, that other shippers have been selling quite freely, average 30/501b, at Aid. Interest in New Zealand calf is general, and as much as lOid has. been paid for these in North America^ At present.. Europe is not far behind and has already bid 10id, but we do not think that shippers have . very heavy supplies at the moment. We cannot report anything fresh in Capes. There are small supplies available, and they have found their way to Italy, ■where prices which are'quite out.of reach have been paicK In Australian hides we believe a fair amount of business has been done with this- country, but we have no details."
