BIGAMY ADMITTED
SUEEENDEE TO POLICE
AN AUCKLAND CASE

AUCKLAND, This Day.
Malche Amelia Ruby Williams, aged 22, pleaded guilty to a charge of bigamy in the Police Court today, and was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence. ' The evidence showed that the accused was married to a butcher at Auckland in June, 1933, there being one child of the marriage. In April, 1934, the accused and' Her husband had separated, the accused returning to her parents.
The ■ husband, in evidence, said he last saw his wife on September 28, when they were thinking of returning to each other. '
A bluejacket, whose name, was ordered to be suppressed,' said' he met the accused in November, 1934. She said she was divorced from her husband, who was living in Auckland. After keeping company they went through a form of marriage at Ponsonby on September 28. "On October 1 she told me she had married me when her husband was still living," said witness.
Detective Wilson said " the accused called at the police station on October 4 and confessed'bigamy. She said she had been under the impression that legal separation permitted her to marry. .
