PRESENTATION OF TROPHIES
The wind-up .dance and presentation of trophies and medals in connection with the Petone Rugby Football Club's activities was held in the Labour Hall last night. The attendance was not up to that of previous years, but all thoroughly enjoyed themselves.
Prior to presenting the trophies Mr. J. R. Robertson, the club's president, thanked all those who had helped the club during the season. He stated that the. season had been a successful one in every respect in that four championships had been won—the senior A, junior A, fifth, and club championships. In addition the senior A team had won the Mcßaiii Memorial Shield, and the fourth A ana seventh grade teams were runners-up in their respective championships. Mr. W. Nash, M.P., the club's patron, congratulated the club on the season's performances and expressed the hope that next season would be even more successful.
The following cups and medals were presented:— Purcell Memorial Cup awarded to the junior A team for the most meritorious performance of the club's teams.
Estall Memorial Cup, to R. Roberts and J. Douglas (equal). In connection With grade performances for this cup medals were awarded to R. Gibson (fourth B), C. Perrett (seventh). Dr. Bakewell's medal for most improved player in the senior A team, C. A. Hudson.
Mr. H. Lark's trophy for most improved player in the senior B team, W. Thorpe.
Mr. S. Lelica's medal for most improved player in the junior A team, W. M. Mitchell.
Mrs. J. Martin's trophy for most improved player in the junior B team, A. W. Henry. Mr. F. Wisneskie's trophy for most improved player in the third C team, C. Cates.
Mrs. C. Nissen's trophy for most improved player in the fourth A team, M. Symons. Mr. L. Price's trophy for most improved player in the fourth B team, P. Dougan.
Mr. W. Surgener's trophy for most improved player in the fifth grade team, J. Marshall.
Mr. D. Fraser's trophy for most improved player in the sixth grade team, W. N. Haddy. Mrs. H. Plant's trophies for most improved forward in the seventh grade, W. Jonassen; most improved back, A. Brough.
Consolation trophy donated by a well-wisher, R. Scott (fourth A team). The Ritz Orchestra supplied the music and the supper arrangements were in the hands of the ladies' committee.
During the evening an exhibition tap dance was given by Master Blake and this novelty was greatly appreciated.
The M.C.s were Messrs. Whitley and Selwood.
