':■■ Ballyculane, who will be. having his first race at Napier : tomorrow, is a four-yeai--old black gelding by Psychology from the Polydamba mare Miss Damon. He is owned at Tolaga Bay by Messrs. W. H. and N. B. Smith. . A, wellrnamed maiden in the Trial Handicap at Napier tomorrow is Noisy Night, who is a three-year-old brown colt by Hunting Song out of the Aus-tralian-bred Land of Song mare Smoke Concert.. He is a well-bred sort, tqo, as he is no- other than a full-brother to Ringing^Cheer and to Gallant Fox, two good horses whose careers were checked: by unsoundhess. Noisy Night is held on lease by the Hastings trainer H. S. Greene from Mrs. G. Carrington. A change is contemplated in the steeplechase brush fences at Riccarton. In the past they have been built up with: manuka boughs, but the difficulty of ': securing an adequate supply has caused the situation to be reviewed. As a result it is proposed ;to establish live fences. ' A start has been made by : planting privet along the line of the two fences of the-kennels double, and an area will be set aside: to rear more material for other steeplechase fences. ...... , Flammarion, who at one time carried the colours of his breeder, Mr. Frank Ormond, has been leased to C.
