STEADY PROGRESS
In 1924 the associations affiliated to the i New Zealand Association were Otago (39), Wellington (21), Canterbury (18), and Auckland (—). The following table shows the growth since then: —
By this table it will be seen' that there are over 10,000 girls (excluding primary school and ■ a large number of secondary school players) playing basketball ' under the control of the N.Z.B.A. ; ■ The visiting players and officials will be the guests of the Wellington Basketball Association at a dinner at the Elm Tea Rooms.on Saturday night, when the trophies won duringthe tournament will be presented., These' are the New Zealand cup '. presented anonymously in 1925, for the premier team of the Dominion;.' the, Annie Brown Cup, presented by, Mrs. W. Brown, of Canterbury, for the run-ners-up in the first grade; the President's Shield for the winners of the second grade, presented by Mrs. R.\S. Mclnnes, Southland; and the Hayhurst Cup for second grade runners-up, donated by Mr. J. C. Hayhurst, of South Canterbury. In 1934, Wellington won , the New Zealand Cup, with Canterbury taking the Annie Brown Cup. Poverty Bay annexed the President's Shield, and Marlborough the Hayhurst Cup;
