AUCKLANDER'S MAIDEN.

Trouvaille was favourite for the maiden event and he duly won but only after a desperate finish with Lady Hoariri v and Popette, the issue being in the balance right to the post. Ringapoto was badly, left, the early leader being Lady Hoariri from Popette, Trouvaille, and "Royal King. There was not much alteration in the straight, Eind, the leading lour were the only ones m it when heads were turned for.the judge. Popette immediately - tackled the leader, but Lady Hoariri never looked like yielding. A furlong from the post Trouvaille, on the fence, issued a challenge, and in a great finish got up to win by a head from Lady Hoariri, with Popette only a head further back. Royal King was fourth, followed by Donegal, Tidal. Song, Middle,' and FrugaL The winner is a three-year-qld black gelding by the Martian horse Haceful.-a full-brother in blood' to Sasanof, and he is held on sub-lease by Mr. '-Pv.J. McMahon, of Hamilton, who also trains him, BfcIGABORE'S HTJRIDLES.

The bracketed pair Lady Spy and Karangapai were withdrawn from the Rosebank Hurdles, leaving seven starters, and Brigadore was the favourite. Minos was the early leader, and turn-

ing into the back stretch was five lengths ahead of Gallivanter, with Kaola next, followed by Headland and Brigadore, the last-named commencing to .move forward. At, the'home turn

Minds :.had gone and Kaola; Brigadore, and Gallivanter were • almost in line

about four lengths in front of Headland. Brigadore jumped to the- front'«at the last fence, and,he went.on to'win; well ,j3y close on two lengths from .Kaola, with Headland over two lengths fur•■'ther back. Gallivanter was fourth, fol- _ lowed by, Tanibo and Minos. *■ " HOT FAVOURITE F^iULS.

.' . 'Arouse was a short-priced favourite , for the Closeburn-Hack Flying, but • he cried enough after five furlongs and , eventually finished last. The winner " was Treasure Hunt, who headed Arouse after three furlongs and was never afterwards threatened.> He drew right away in the straight to win very easily by six lengths from Spender. Wyndalo \vas three,'lengths further away third, -land Arouse was a: bad last, completely -failing to handle the conditions., Treasure Hunt has often been in. the money in his races, but his only previous success was,at Wairarapa,, Easter twelve months ago. He is .now being trained by his owner, Mrs. G. M. Bennett, ... at Awapuni. '.-/miss pango in fokm.

- -Miss Pango, having her first start 'over fences in public, but recently, in winning form on the flat, was favoucite for the Hunt Cup Steeples, The Hanger being withdrawn. Waitaunaha was also in warm demand, but after a "mile and a half the track had him well beaten. Waitaunaha was the early pacemaker f rpm Red Brae, Miss Pango, and Conference, but Miss Pango had charge before they had gone half a mile. Croyden ran up. to Miss Pango half a mile from home, where Red Brae was in third place ahead of The Drone, whose jumping had improved, and Conference. Croyden actually had the lead crossing the tpp, but Miss Pango had charge again before heads were turned for home, and in the run to the judge'Croyden and Red Brae could not foot it with her, Miss Pango winning comfortably by four lengths from' Red Brae, the outsider, with Croyden a length and a half further back third. The Drone was fourth and the others finished together. It was a good effort on the part of the winner, a half-sister to Pahu and Pango, and Croyden and Red Brae (a fullbrother to High Commissioner) should improve. , LADY AKIKITOA'S BRACELET. Gainsay, Petrarch, and Lady Arikitpa carried well over half the machine in the Bracelet, and Lady Arikitoa won well from Gainsay. Otaiu. Gainsay, Even Money, and Air Force were in the leading, bunch going through the straight the first time, and there was not much alteration going into the back. Lady Arikitoa then moved forward, however, and she had charge at the far turn, leading across the top, followed by Gainsay, Even Money, Sapless, and Petrarch. This was the order into the straight, and at the distance Lady Arikitoa drew out, easing up over the last bit to win well by over a length from Gainsay, with Sapless a length further back. Petrarch finished* on into fourth place ahead of Clarion Call. The winner is a seven-year-old mare by Warplane from a Maniapoto mare, and she is owned by Mr H.A. Glasgow, of Turakina:
