SYDNEY, July 24.

Six horses near the rear of the field crashed during the running of the Maiden Handicap for three- and four-year-olds at Rosehill.

One horse, Booral, broke its back and was killed. Another, Blighty, fractured a leg and had to be destroyed. There were 25 runners in- the race. None of the jockeys were seriously hurt.

The jockeys injured were: W. Gates, concussion and shock; J. McEyoy, broken collarbone; H. Zensky, dislocated shoulder; R. Marsden and R. Skelton, injuries to back.

The stewards' inquiry into the accident was adjourned until the jockeys are fit to give evidence.
