HOMING PIGEONS
The Wellington Homing Pigeon Society continued its series of weekly shows in the clubroom, Newtown Avenue, on Saturday night. The class was for coloured pigeons such as mealies, pieds, yellows, etc., and there was a class for cocks and hens. The judge was Mr. J. Bruce, whose decisions were well received by the large number of fanciers present. The best bird of both classes was adjudged to be Mr. A. Croskery's pied cock, and he wins the silver cup donated by Mr. F. Couper. The following were the awards:— Cocks (21 entries), Mr. A. Croskery, I and silver cup; Dr. Gillies, 2; C. Webster and Son, 3; F. Couper and Son. v.h.c; Dickey Bros., h.c; N. Boyd and Son., c. Hens (20 entries), Dickey Bros., 1 and 2: F. Ferris, 3; Jas. Pcrrett, v.h.c; N. Boyd and Son, h.c; Jas. Perrett, c. Mr. Ken Hoare delivered a very instructive lecture on the mating of pigeons for breeding purposes, and he was accorded a very hearty vote of thanks. The final show will be held on. Saturday.
