DELIGHTFUL MUSIC

MRS. J. BENNIES PARTY

Those present at the delightful party given by Mr. and Mrs. J. Bennie at their home in Mount Street on Saturday night were entertained with some particularly fine music. Two people very eminent in the musical world were present, Mr. Walter Kingsley, the Australian baritone, and Mr. Lloyd Powell, the well-known London pianist and examiner, both of whom are here on a visit. Mr. Kingsley and Miss Marjorie Bennie sang a number _ of solos, accompanied by Mrs. Aldridge at the piano, and Mr. Powell played several pianoforte solos. Everyone was charmed with this,music.

• Iceland poppies ami a huge fire made the drawing-room look very bright and attractive, and there was a bowl of lovely' deep red roses on the dining-room table where supper was set out.

Mrs. Bennie wore a graceful frock of black net over gold lame, and Miss Bennies smart frock was made of navy and white check taffeta.

Among those present were Mrs. G. A. Bucklin, Cay. Dott. and Signora Formichella, Mr. and Mrs. James Payne, Mr. and Madame Feng Wang, Dr. and Mrs. A. Gillies, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Short, the Misses Mary and Adele Bucklin, Miss Imelda Fama, and Messrs. Charles Todd, Trevor Lane, and Malcolm Bennie.
