After the singing of the institute ode a small amount of business was dealt with. An urgent appeal was received for young children's clothing to be sent to a Maori institute, as it was in .dire need. It was decided to hold a flower and handcraft show on August 8 in the Coronation Hall. The president introduced Dr. Helen Bakewell, who gave a very interesting talk on her recent tour abroad. Dr. Bakewell's description of a visit to the Hebrides, also the drama and hospital work in London, were greatly enjoyed. The competition "Best article from 4oz wool, knitted or crocheted," was won by Mrs. Harris, Mrs. She.argold second for the former, and Mrs. Hughes first, Mrs. Blake second, for the latter. A dainty afternoon tea was dispensed by the hostesses, Mesdames Bancke, Strand, and Fortune.
