MATCH AT CARTERTON

CARTERTON, July 6.

The Wairarapa and ■ Hawke's Bay Kugby representatives met at Carterton today on a sodden ground. There were occasional showers. Bay ran out winners by 24 points to 17. Bay opened out well in the first spell and quickly rattled on 39 points to Wairarapa's 3 from a penalty. The second spell saw Wairarapa liven up, and in quick time they ran their total to 11. Bay again gained a fine converted try, making their total 24. Wairarapa were not to be denied, and from forward play they scored twice more, Fuller failing badly with [kicks. Tries for Hawke's Bay were scored by Fredsburg, Rolls (2), Apsey, and Bradley (2). the last-named converting three. The Wairarapa scorers were Ward, Devine, Stringfellow, and R. Devine, and Fuller converted one try and kicked a penalty.
