STATE OF WORLD TRADE

CURRENCY STABILISATION

WAR AS A DIVERSION

Dnited Press Association—3y Electric Telegraph—Copyright. (Received July 6, noon.) LONDON, July 5. In moving a resolution urging the Government to initiate negotiations with a view to provisional stabilisation of currencies, to remove trade obstacles, and to reverse the trend of economic nationalisation in order to complete the work of the Economic Conference, Sir George Faish told the council of the League of Nations Union that some might think the resolution was unnecessary as trade was improving and the world was getting out of its difficulties. On the contrary, the position was becoming worse. Signor Mussolini, he said, was makingl efforts to divert Italians' attention from economic distress by military action in Abyssinia. Germany' might eventually combine with Poland and attack Russia in order to secure food lands. Britain was no longer leading the world towards well-being. If Lord Cecil and similar men throughout the world were enabled to act they could solve the world's difficulties. The resolution was carried.
