DWELLING GUTTED

11 (By Telegraph—Press Association.) GISBORNE, This Day. The first outbreak of fire of any magnitude in Gisborne , during the last five months occurred last evening, when a six-roomed house in Crawford Road was gutted. The outbreak is believed to have started from a candle left near- a bed, and when the only occupant of the dwelling awakened the flames, fanned by a high wind, had a sti-ong hold. The brigade was presented with a difficult task in preventing the complete destruction of the building, which was insured in the State Fire Office for £500.
