Mr. and Mrs. J. B. MacEwan, Fitzherbert Terrace, left last evening for Auckland, en route for Sydney. 'Mrs. Wilkinson, who was the guest of Mrs. Stone-Wigg, Waihi School, Winchester, has returned to Wellington. Mrs. Fred, Alexander, Stratsmore, Lakeside, Canterbury, is visiting her brother and sister-in-law, Captain and Mrs. M. Juriss. Miss B. Skeet, Wellington, is visiting Wanganui. Miss N. Reeves, who has been the guest of Mrs. A. de B. Brandon, Hobson Street, left last evening for Christchurch. Mrs. G. H. Perry, Masterton, is visiting Wellington. Mrs. Philip Brandon and her children are visiting Mrs. Birch, Hapua, Masterton. Mrs. A. E. Sandral, who has been visiting Wellington, has returned to Timaru. Mr. and Mrs. H. S. Manning and their twoi children, who have been spending some weeks in Christchurch, will return to their home at Rarotonga by the Maunganui, sailing on Tuesday next. They will' arrive in Wellington tomorrow morning. Mrs: D. L. Halford-Thompson, accompanied by her daughter, Miss M. Hal-ford-Thompson, arrived in Wellington yesterday by the Rangitiki. Mrs. Halford-Thompson's husband is chief magistrate of a district in New Guinea. Mrs. Archie Clark, Featherston, is visiting Wellington. Mrs. W. Trolove, "The Shades," Marlborough, is staying at Warwick House in Christchurch. Mr. and Mrs. A. "B. Lane, Kelburn, last last night for the south. ' Recent callers at the High Commissioner's Office, London, included Sir Cecil and Lady Day, Mr. F. Renouf, Mr. W. E. Morton, Mr. and Mrs. I. Philpot, Miss Winifred A. C. White (Karori), Dr. and Mrs. E. H. M. Luke, Mrs. L. C. Arnold, Mrs. G. E. Anson (Lower Hutt), Mr. and. Mrs. W. F. Nicholls, and Miss M. B. Nicholls. •' News has been received toy air mail of the engagement of Richard Mitchelson Campbell, youngest son of Mr. Norman Campbell, of Buckland, and the late Mrs. Campbell, to Mary Campbell, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Campbell, of Glendale, Isle of Skye. 1 Mrs. M. B. Gore (Texas) is staying at the Midland Hotel. Mrs. G. Marshall (Marton), Mrs. H. W. Warner, and Mrs. Farrell (Auckland) are staying at the Royal Oak Hotel. Mrs. J. C. Cramer (U.S.A.) and Mrs. T. Mac Donald (Wanganui) are staying at the Grand Hotel. Misses T. and H. Langley (New Plymouth), Miss Betty Hill and Mrs. F. Ackland (Christchurch), and Mrs. McAuley (Oamaru) are staying at the Empire Hotel.
