BUTTER DEMAND QUIET
LONDON DAIRY MARKETS
The demand for butter during the week was quiet, according to the weekly cabled report received today by the New Zealand Dairy Produce Board. Wholesale quotations are Is a cwt below those for last week. The cheese market is quiet with quotations practically unchanged. Wholesale quotations for butter are: —New Zealand, salted, 88s to 89s a cwt (which equals approximately 10.3d a lb f.0.b.): unsalted, 88s to 90s; Danish, • spot, 99s to 100s. 1 Wholesale prices for cheese are:— New Zealand, white 45s to 45s 6d a cwt (which equals approximately 4.79 d a lb, f.0.b.), coloured 44s 6d to 455; Canadian, white and coloured, 62s to 645. The board has also received the following advice from its agents in Canada:—Butter, New York, 23!j cents la lb; Montreal, 193 cents. A. H. Turnbull and Co., Ltd., have received the following cable from their principals,' W. Weddel and Co., Ltd., dated London, July s:—Butter market firmer; Danish, 100s a cwt; New Zealand, finest, 89s; Australian, finest, 86s. Cheese market quiet. New Zealand, white 45s a cwt, coloured 44s 6d. A. S. Paterson and Co., Ltd., advise having received today cable advice from J. and J. Lonsdale and Co. (London), Ltd., as follows:—Butter: Market quiet, buyers inactive. New Zealand, 88s to 89s a cwt; Australian, 85s .to 86s; Danish, 80s, f.0.b., 101s landed. Cheese, market slow. New Zealand, white 44s a cwt, coloured 44s 6d. Samuel Page and Son, Ltd., London, report July 4:—Butter market slow. Danish, 78s per cwt, f.0.b.; New Zealand, finest salted, 88s to 89s; Australian, finest unsalted, 85s to 86s; finest salted, 85s to 86s; G.A.Q., 80s to 82s. Cheese market slow. New Zealand cheese, white 455, coloured 445. 6d; spot price for Canadian, white 58s to 645, coloured 58s to 645.
The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Company, Ltd., has received the following advice from its London house, dated July 3:—Dairy produce (last week's quotations in parentheses): Butter —New Zealand choicest salted, 89s per cwt (90s); market slow. Cheese —White, 44s 6d to 45s per cwt' (45.5); coloured, 44s 6d to 45s per cwt (44s 6d); market quiet. The New Zealand Producers' Cooperative Marketing Association's weekly cabled market report dated London, July 5, is as follows: —Butter: Market, quiet. New Zealand, 88s to 89s a cwt; Danish, 99s to 'IOOs. Cheese: Market quiet.- New Zealand, white, 45s a cwt; coloured, 44s to 44s 6d. MINIMUM EXPORT PRICES. The. Dairy .Board has fixed the minimum f.o.b. prices until further notice at 10 5-8 d a lib for butter and 5d a lb for cheese.
