STANCHION VERY FIT
(Special from "Limited.") HAWERA, This Day. Somo alterations have been made in the arrangements of the Hawera horses for Trentham. i Arouse .has..been .scratched, igr^ ,his. ;
first day's engagement, and it is doubtful if he will attend the meeting.
Stanchion left for Trentham today. Ruaform and Supreme Court will npt leave until Tuesday, as they are not engaged on the first day. J. Fryer, trainer of Supreme Court, who has been working well, is not too keen on racing the gelding just yet, as he considers that another few weeks' work would make him more solid. Supreme Court has made remarkable progress since he arrived from Australia in very poor condition.
On Thursday morning Supreme Court and Ruri were associated in a working gallop over five furlongs, the firstnamed handling the soft going well.
Ruaform and Stanchion,, both carrying light weights, were sent a mile. Ruaform ran right away from Stanchion" over the first half-mile, but Stanchion then began to make up ground, and the pair finished together. Ruaform showed up very favourably, and will be a tough proposition in his races. Stanchion is also in great fettle, and has previously run well at Trentham. Last year he finished second in the Trentham Hurdles, beating all ex? cept Rasouli, and of course he won the Wellington Cup..
