FALSE, FIRE ALAEMS
BOYS ADMIT OFFENCES
'" The normal routine of the Miramar Fire Brigade has been seriously disturbed during the last few months, the firemen having had to answer no fewer than 48 malicious false alarms. This fact was revealed by Sub-Inspector C E. Roach today, when six boys from the Miramar district appeared in the Children's Court before Mr. E. D. Mosley S.M., charged with interfering with fire alarms without legal justification. The sub-inspector stated that the boys had admitted interfering with the 'alarms at night on numerous occasions. He pointed out that the offences were serious, as, in addition to the ordinary routine of the brigade being upset, there was a grave risk to life and property in the case of a genuine alarm being given while the brigade was out answering a false call. It was stated that some of the boys concerned had actually received instruction from a fire brigade officer in. the working of alarms, and the risk attendant upon giving a false call. As it was stated that the boys had already been punished severely at home and at school, they were admonished and discharged by the Court.
