DR. PELTZER IN PRISON

The athlete, Dr. Otto Peltzer, ha* ended his career by incurring eighteen months' imprisonment for crimes similar to that of Herr Roehm. He is one of the many victims of the "anti-immor-ality" drive.by the secret police. . Dr. Otto Peltzer, who is one of the most famous middle-distance runners the athletic track has known, appeared at the Basin Reserve on February 8, 1930, when he amazed the spectatpi-3 , by running a half-mile in lmin.s6 3-ssec and 430 yards (the first .section of a relay race) in 47sec. At Stamford Bridge on July 3, 1926, he established a world's record, which still stands..to his credit, by covering the half-mile in lmin 51 3-ssec. When he visited New Zealand he held four world's records, and his athletic scalps included that of the Finnish wonder, Paavo Nurmi. Dr. Peltzer was born in Stettin in 1900 and was a student of the Munich University, Bavaria, where he graduated as a doctor of social science. He served with the German army in the last year of the war. Herr Roehm-was one of the leaders of the Storm Troop revolt ■in June, 1934. After having been arrested he was chaxged with encouraging attempts to sow dissension between Storm Troops and Nazis. ;
