PROFESSOR J. R. ELDER, C.M.G.
Professor John Rawson Elder, C.M.G., holds the Chair of History a*, the University of Otago, Dunedin. He was educated in Scotland. At Aberdeen University he took high degrees and honours in English language and literature and history. In 1914 he was
appointed lecturer in modern history at the University of Aberdeen. In 1920 he was appointed to his present position.
