MR. JOHANNES ANDERSEN, M.B.E.

Mr. Johannes Andersen, M.8.E., is librarian of the Alexander Turnbull Library, Wellington, and is a wellknown poet and author. He was born at Jutland, Denmark, in 1873, and was educated at public schools in Christchurch and at Canterbury College.. He entered the Government service as a cadet in 1887, and served as commissioner's clerk until 1914, ; when he joined .the staff of .the .General Assembly Library, at . Parliament Buildings. He was appointed to take charge of the Turnbull Library in 1918. He was honorary editor of the. Transactions of the New Zealand' Institute from 1920 to 1929, and was elected a Fellow in 1923.
