MR. JOHANNES ANDERSEN, M.B.E.
Mr. Johannes Andersen, M.8.E., is librarian of the Alexander Turnbull Library, Wellington, and is a wellknown poet and author. He was born at Jutland, Denmark, in 1873, and was educated at public schools in Christchurch and at Canterbury College.. He entered the Government service as a cadet in 1887, and served as commissioner's clerk until 1914, ; when he joined .the staff of .the .General Assembly Library, at . Parliament Buildings. He was appointed to take charge of the Turnbull Library in 1918. He was honorary editor of the. Transactions of the New Zealand' Institute from 1920 to 1929, and was elected a Fellow in 1923. Since .1925 he, has been joint editor of the "Journal of . the Polynesian Society." In -1906-07 ) Mr. Andersen won the prize for the best ode- composed . for the .New. Zealand International Exhibition at Christchurch. He has published numerous works on-nature study and. New Zealand history. ,'.■.' ..•:'.'■
