HERE AND THERE
Younger Set Club.
A bridge party, the proceeds of which will be donated to the Wellington Free Ambulance, was held last evening by the Younger Set Club in the social hall of the Free Ambulance building. After supper dancing was enjoyed. Prizes for scores nearest a hidden number, were won by Miss Nash, Miss N. Robinson, and Mr. K. Wilson. Free Ambulance Party. An enjoyable .and profitable gesture with the multiple purpose of providing funds for the association, and entertainment for performers and audience alike, was made recently at Melrose. The programme, under the able leadership of Mr. J. Copke, included items of varied description by Miss Gretta Stark, Messrs. N. Aitken and G. Power in comedy; Messrs. Haley and Ray Kemp, baritones; and Mr. T. Jenkins, tenor, with Mr. Ray Hill at the piano. The proceeds realised about £4. The president of the Melrose Ratepayers' Association (Mr. W. L. Edmanson) thanked the company for its fine efforts, ■ and invited them to come again. Captain Roffe, on behalf of the Ambulance, dealt briefly with the work of his association, and thanked all for their hearty co-operation. PEACE PREPARATIONS.
