TUBERCULOSIS
IMPROVED SERVICE
'It has been, recommended that revision of the services provided for the treatment of tuberculosis be undertaken: with a:view to giving a better domiciliary service: It, is suggested that better organisation can be provided for cases in their own homes,' and the matter is to be discussed later with representatives of other hospital boards," states Dr. A. R: Thome, superintendent of the Wellington Hospital, in a report to the Hospital Board. "The Wellington' Hospital Board," reports Dr. Thorne, "would require a full-time tuberculosis officer for dispensary work and at the Ewart Hospital. He could be aided by the senior officer when time permitted. There would also be required one and possibly later two tuberculosis nurses for dispensary work and the visiting of homes. The question of a sub-dispensary at the Hutt, perhaps worked in conjunction with the nurse already in that centre, should also be considered."
