LAMB MARKET STEADY
The market for New Zealand frozen lamb in London is steady, and prices are unchanged, according to the iveekly cable received by the .'New Zealand Meat Producers' Board. .Consumption continues good, especially for best quality. Second quality lamb is affected by large supplies of Australian and Patagonian lamb. Wether and ewe. mutton are steady, but trade is slow. The beef market is steady and unchanged. I The New Zealand equivalent of the prices given above is on the following basis: If the price delivered to Smithfield is G 3-8 d per lb, the New Zealand "overall" parity is approximately -6.61 d; 6%d at Smithfield is approximatley 6.46 d. Messrs. Levin and Co.j Ltd., have received the following cable from their London agents, dated May 10:—Compared ■with last week,- quotations are unaltered. The market • for prime .lambs, is steadier, but.for second quality lambs and mutton it is uncertain. The Bank of New Zealand, Produce Department, has received the following advice from its London office as at close of business last week:—There is a little better de'mandfor wethers. The market is easier for ewes. The market for lambs is steady—there is • a better demand for first-grade lightweights. .There is a fair demand for Beef:—Wethers, light 3%d to 4%d per lb, heavy 3d t0.3%d;. ewes,.2%d to 3%d; lambs, 2's 6%d to 6%d; B's 6%d to 6%d; 4's 6%d to 6V4d; seconds, 5%d to-6d: ox beef hinds, 3%d to'3%d;: fores 2%d to 2%d. ■.■'■'
