The monthly meeting of-the Wellington South Horticultural Society was held in the club room, Riddiford Street, Mr. J. W. Salmon presiding. | Final arrangements were made for the autumn show to be held, in St. | Thomas' Hall next Tuesday. Judges were appointed, and stewards were I asked to be at the hall on Tuesday morning. Turrall's Orchestra I intimated that they .would attend in the evening arid Mr. Boocock stated that he would give a lecturette on horticulture about 8 p.m. The ,shdw will open at 3 p.m. and a good display is . anticipated, . especially in the chrysanthemum class; The monthly competition resulted' in 'Mrs. Galpin being awarded first for cosmos, and Mrs. McLean second and:-third for dahlias and marigolds. The society's members competing at the city show on Wednesday in the suburban portion were again successful in winning the Rose Joseph Trophy for the fifth year in succession, Mr. W. Chambers being the prominent exhibitor. He gained awards in vegetables and flowers, winning Mrs. Knox Gilmer's trophy four times in succession with cut flowers.
