Monanui registered her most important success when she won the Nolan Handicap at Ellerslie last Monday. It wae also her first attempt over a mile and a half, and she ran the distance in brilliant'style. She was to race along behind • over the early stages, and it was only over the laet half-mile that 6he was really in the picture. ' , ■ .'■■'. Monanui is by Te Monanui, and is easily the beet of this sire's. stock, She was produced in excellent condition by her owner, J. Hoey, of Whangarei, for whom she has proved a good stake-earner, as her winnings are now approaching the £2000 mark. Her sire was a great performer in big handicaps at Ellerslie a few Seasons ago. Monanui will not race again till the Great Northern Meeting in. June, a fixture at which 6he was successful twelve months ago.
