TRIP TO RIVERTON PAYS

Two North Island trainer-owners, B. Burgess and J. Lowe, decided before Jiaeter to do their main holiday racing almost as far away from home as they could get -without leaving the Dominion, and in the case of Burgees it was a profitable decision, as he had the honour of leading the fwinning owners' list at Riverton, with his three horses (Walton Park, Dollar Bill, and Pukeko) racing only on the two first days of the meeting. Burgess's small team earned £405 in stakes, and that was just sufficient to «et him on top, for Mr. J. P. Herlihy, who was next, collected £402, and Mr. D. Jones £390. Lowe'a two horses (Red Sun and Sunee) failed to gain a win, but their two seconds brought in £65, which would about clear the expenses of the trip.
