WOMAN ARRESTED

A SERIOUS CHARGE

NAPIER, April 26.

A sequel to the death of a young woman named Christina Margaret Ramsay at Napier Hospital on March 6 last was the appearance in the Magistrate's Court this afternoon of Frances MilUcent Lorrigan, a married woman, 34 years of age, residing at Eastbourne Street, Hastings. She was charged with causing the death of Miss Ramsay by an illegal operation, thereby * committing manslaughter. She was remanded to appear on' May 9. Bail was allowed in the accused's surety of £500 and two sureties of £250 each. Lorrigan is to report daily to the police at Hastings. The accused was arrested at Hastings at noon today by Detective-Ser-geant Bickerdike and Detective Coddington.
