TEMPERATURES MILD

Special forecast for Wellington:— Moderate but increasing north-east to north-west winds. Weather dull and at times misty with intermittent rain. Mild temperatures. The weather forecast for the Dominion as a whole,- issued at "noon today, is for" moderate to strong northeast to northerly winds, reaching gale force in places. The weather will be cloudy to overcast with mist or fog in places. General rairi is probable and some heavy falls in the North Island, with flooding in parts of the Auckland Province. Temperatures will be mild. The anticyclone which was responsible for the fine spell of weather over Easter has passed eastward, and since yesterday, a complex depression ' has been advancing towards New Zealand. The depression has been located to the north-west of Cape Maria Van Dieman, and was responsible for rain yesterday in the East Coast and the northern districts of the North Island. The weather throughout the rest of the Dominion, however, was mostly fair. Since last night a general increase in cloud has taken place, and rain has set in in most districts, and heavy floods have occurred in the Auckland district. Moderate to strong, north-east winds have predominated, and have increased to gale force in places in the Auckland peninsula. ' ■, Auckland has had unsettled weather. Wellington had a fine gunny morning yesterday with a light southerly wind, but in the afternoon the wind turned to the north and the sky clouded over. A brief shower fell about 4 p.m., and fairly steady rain fell .in the early hours of this morning, 19 points being registered up to 9 a.m. at Wellington, and 10 points at. Lower Hutt. The forenoon has been dull and misty with showers and a northerly, breeze; ! Christchurch had a dull day yesterday with a fresh east-north-east wind. Misty rain has been falling since last evening, six points being, registered at 9 a.m. today. In Dunedin a strong north-easterly wind blew yesterday, but otherwise the weather was fine. This morning the sky was overcast with a northerly breeze.
