BOOM IN SILVER

President Roosevelt's unexpected action in raising the official buying price of American silver has caused a -wave of speculative excitement in the British market. Buyers came from every j quarter with the result that the. price rose to 31 5-10 d per ounce, the highest touched since January, 1920. (British Official Wireless.) RUGBY, April 12. Silver, spot 31 5-10 d per qz.. .. .Forward; 31 7-16 d per bz. : These -prices are the highest recorded since January,-1926.
By an executive order issued, on August 9, 1934, 'President Roosevelt nationalised all.'silver1' stock in the United States at a price .of 50.01 cents per fine troy ounce, arid ordered all silver to be. delivered to th?.mints: within .90 days. ■ Newly-mined silver, was. still bought at 64% cents. Silver: acquired is listed in .the Treasury's books'at-1 dollar 29 cents per ounce.
