Three successes, in, line were recorded by horses owned by ISir Joseph 8., Robinson on the final day of the, JVfilnertpn (South Africa) Summer .Meeting at the, end of February, and one of, the winners was Sir Joseph's New Zealand' purchase The Haka, a five-year-old entire horse by Lord Quex from1 the/Martian mare, Dominant, though* The Haka's win was shared in a dead-heat.. ; .._.-;■ :. '■■
According to the "Cape Times," The Haka should have won his event, a mile ami a half .handicap, outright /instead of dead-heating with Yorkshire Lass, an; English-bred six-year-old mare who was in receipt of lllb. Lying some way out of his ground as tliey neared the straight, The Haka shot up into second place and in the next half-furlong,he was. in front. The Haka evidently considered it a waste of energy to do more' than this, and witli his cars pricked he quite definitely bsgan to stop. Then Yorkshire Lass foiurl a new lease of life and was on terms with The Haka before the latter could get goin B ' again, the result being a, dead-heat.
