NEW PLYMOUTH TRACK

(Special to the "Evenlno Post.") NtiW; : PLYMOUTH, This Day.

". The tracks 'at,. New Plymouth were agtiin'in good order'-for the-work yesterday, when all the, galloping : took place on the course proper with the flags well out. Nearly all the horses with engagements on Saturday were worked and there were several interesting trials. The morning was marred by an unfortunate accident to Illuminate, who broke a small i bone in one of hiS rear legs, and it is probable .that, his racing career ia over. He ljad jumped off 7at the seven furlongs and was going well when he suddenly fal | tered .just before 'entering the straight and was in a bad way when pulled tip. This is 7 distinctly unlucky. for his owner, Mr. A. Lile, as Illuminate was looking and working better than ever previously and his future prospects appeared very bright. r Refresher and Merry Way were sent seven furlongs, the last , five occupying lmin Csec. Both hit out in a pleasing fashion. . - i Ringside, who continues to show im- ' proveraeiit in his work, again accounted for Gold Mission over five furlongs iv lmin 5 4-ssec. He finished on particularly solidly. ..•!_! Talmraugi, galloping in attractive iasu-l ion, beat Amyril easily over ■ seven • furlongs in lmin 34% sec, the last six taking lmin 20sec. He moved freely all the way and finished full of running. After giving another good exhibition over four hurdles Ngareta galloped half a mi'e in 55sec. "a fair effort for a hurdler, ibhe is still carrying a lot of condition.and is not likely to be able to show her best on Saturday. • """"■' I Chief Marionette was allotted solid pace work on the plough. She looks well and is holding her condition splendidly. The Tiger and Sporting Song worked on the samo track, tho former bowling once round at an easy three-quarter pace. Two candidates for tho open six on Saturday in Lady Kyra and Orapai were associated over five furlongs. Lady ' Kyra was always in front and finished nearly a length ahead of her companion in lmin 4sec. This was a good effort on the parf of the filly but Orapai was finishing <>v solidly. Ho ia improving with every gallop and shows no signs of soreneas. Aussie Ra and Dayistock jumped off <tt the mile peg and picked up Kaola after going a furlong. Kaola hopped off a couple of lengths in front and. still had a sliglit advantage at .the end. The trio rail the first three furlongs in 41%8e0 Mid the full distance in lmin 38 2-ssec, the last halfmile, taking 54 3-ssec. All finished solidly. Kaoltt's effort .was-'-a'. good one for a hurdler. . •■■ " Cereal, who arrived from Waitara law night; showed that he still possesses, all his pace by reeling off hal£ a mile in com^ pany with Joy Box'in 51 4-ssec. Cereal looks bright and muscular.
