HAWERA, April 9. The Hawera horses • engaged at New Plymouth on Saturday are with very few exceptions well forward in racing condition and this centre promises to be worthily represented in the various events. There was not a great deal of fast work ind;ilged in this morning, but all the engaged horses were out performing solid, useful exercise. t The plough track was in first-rate order.

Golden Hair (Cook), Friesland (Monkley), and Brougn's Colossus three-year-old (Cole) galloped five furlongs. ITrieslaud was slow to get going, losing several lengths, Golden Hair .and, the three-year-old carrying oil to the three furlongs in 37% sec. In: the run home Golden Hair was going nicely to finish q. length in front of Brough's gelding, with Krieslaud,'. who made up his ground splendidly, a length further back, in lmin 4sec. The hurdlers Stanchion and March Alone,, ridden .by twb.oj: J. Fryer's featherweights, Alan. Passing: Fancy (Cole) shaped more encouragingly than, on Saturday, sprinting her four furlongs' in 50 4-osec. ' ■ ■ -: Lady Eka-(Duncan) ran homo the last three furlongs of a round in4lsec. , Ruri (Duncan) • and Haunui (Sheild) were apportioned half -pace exercise -which both were anxious to improve on. Diagauo (Edgecombe) finished well in front of Ingenuity (Conway) at the end of a working gallop over seven < furlongs covered in lmin 36sce. Diagano did his work'pleasingly. Ingenuity had much the worst of the weights. Colossal (Duncan) worked eagerly over a round1 at three-quarter pace, .running home his last three furlongs in 42sec. Harvest Moon (Cole) was given a couple of miles at a solid pace. ; Aga Khan (Edgecombe) was given three-quarter pace work.- Copey and Panloft were allotted easy tasks and Onewhetu half-pace work.
