"HEART-BALM" SUITS
ABUSE OF COURTS IN U.S.A. REFORM IN LEGISLATION NEW YOP.K'March 31. The Governor, Mr. Lehman, has signed a Bill outlawing so-called "heart-balm" suits in New York State courts, making damages in actions for alienation of affection, ; breach of promise, seduction, and criminal conversation illegal. - ■ The Bill is similar to one recently passed in Indiana and those pending in many other States to curb a "blackmail racket."
