Sir,—ln a paper read at the conference of the Institute of Fire Engineers, Mr. Gibson referred to the danger of panic in dance halls and public halls, but he omitted the danger in theatres. For some considerable time past I have made particular note of the obstacles that are placed in the doorways and entrances. Boards with programmes and pictures, etc., on them, are placed in entrances. The Fire Brigade seems not to notice. this sort of tning, but picks .on dance halls, which are a lot safer.—l am, etc., N.
