DISAPPOINTING BIDDING

The bidding at the sale-of yearlingß held in Melbourne during last month was in marked contrast to that of previous years and was very disappointing. Although "Windbag has proved a marked success as a sire, the competition for his progeny wa3 much below anticipations, 1555 guineas being the sum realised for the 10 submitted to auction. Manfred was represented more numerously than AVindbag, and the 17 of his progeny sent up for sale realised 3210 guineas. It will be interefrting to note as time wears on whether tke 17 youngsters by Manfred prove a better proposition than the 10 by Windbag.
