A, Willis; honorary ■auditor, Mr. G. McFarlane. •, Tie annual report stated that the past harner season was one in which the standard of general fitness and running ability among the club members showed a decided improvement' over that of y.cars. This was evidenced in the 'near victories achieved— notably in the provincial cross-country championship and the 20 miles Gold Cup race, in each of which the club was beaten by a narrow margin. The membership was maintained at its previous high level. The enthusiasm _ot members remained gratifyingly undiminislied, and the large weekly attendances creditably reflected the spirit of esprit (le corps existent in the club. Although, in 1933 the- club endeavoured to have the inter-club competition syllabus modified, it reverted !o full participation in inter-club events last year with the exception of the Shaw Baton relay race. This resolution was the outcome of discussion at the last annual Reneral meeting. The club had one inter-club victory, which was gained in the Bennett Memorial road race, jhe event was "individualised" by Don Pedersen. who in a striking manner raced home ahead of last year's winner, the redoubtable Stevens, by a good" sixty yards. The club creditably.acquitted itself in thp rm zo miles Gold Cup race at Trentham. The committee was grateful to those who entered and finished in.the gruelling contest. It is the committee's conviction.that snecial attention should be given during the year to training in preparation for tins strenuous event. Sixteen'official club runs, five club races, and four . inter-club events were participated in.
